I Saw Morning Coffee In Her Eyes

Wow. I've just read the fictional account of Heath Ledger's last days. I can't believe a woman wrote this. It's brilliant. It feels strong, honest and has that I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude that I'd expect Ledger to have. I -cannot- believe a woman wrote this. Lisa Taddeo you're some kind of genius.

Apparently she roamed around New York and completely immersed herself in Ledger's experiences. She visited his favorite shops, clubs, restaurants and talked to his neighbors in an attempt to gain any insight into what his last days could have been like.

It's written as if she is Ledger describing his last few days from the beyond. As if he is dead and telling the story of how it all panned out. She describes a dinner with Jack Nicholson, an email from Michelle Williams and a phone conversation with Mary Kate Olsen. And although, this is reported fiction I can't help but believe that these could be true thoughts. They way she describes Heath as seeing, "morning coffee in [Michelle's] eyes." Or how Mary Kate once said that, "growing up as one half of something made me feel I had to overcompensate to be worth a whole." But I guess it's these descriptions that help us remember a woman wrote this.

Even more than that, though, I don't really care if any of it's true. Because I think that it's beautifully written and I just wish there was more to read.

(It's three pages long, but it's also a quick read.)
